Let’s ‘drive’ right in! Floorcraft: Arena version 0.1.2 is available to download via the app store. February has started with all our engines blazing, and we are excited to share the new build with all of you! (If you haven’t done so already, download it here> https://apple.co/3eOi8gK)

Vintage Vibes

Merlin is working on a new vehicle concept for Floorcraft: Arena. He is taking some baseline concepts discovered through the use of Stable Diffusion AI and turning those into working vehicle design sheets for our art department to use for modeling. This vehicle, in particular, is inspired by vintage chrome-heavy concepts from the 1950s to the 60s. (How Snazzy?)

Flaming Magic

Screen to FIREEEEEE!!

Pontus is working on four new power-ups. Some others you might know from previous blogs. Here is the flamethrower, which spits flames to attack enemies. Next, a proximity mine that you can place and will blow up your enemies if they get too close. A magnet that can fire a huge wrecking ball behind you that destroys every car in its path, and a laser, which shoots fast and in front of you but is so powerful it stops your car when you fire it. (We can’t wait to see this come to life in multiplayer sessions!)

Sounds like racing

Dusko has been focused on the Floorcraft power-up expansions mentioned above (Thruster, Warphole, Hellfire, and EMP). All of the sounds were created using the internal granular engine and sound generator of Omnisphere. Alongside these, Dusko developed a set of sounds for the magnetic mechanism for one of our planned power-ups, landmines, and flamethrowers. The Floorcraft main theme was musically remixed to match the 60-second marketing time frame.

Damir and Dusko also went to the Warhammer 40k gaming studio in Zagreb and shot some videos of the Matterless cars racing through their worlds and some Marvel HeroClix streets!

From The Social Side

We recently ran a poll on LinkedIn and Twitter asking the audience which industry they think will benefit the most from AR (augmented reality), and here’s what they said:

LinkedIn poll results

LinkedIn voted the education industry benefiting the most from #AR technology.

Twitter poll results

Twitter said retail would be the one to benefit the most from AR.

We can’t help but agree with both. In our opinion, AR technology will certainly benefit all these and many other industries in numerous ways!

For example, in retail, imagine picking up a product, scanning it with your phone, and all the nutritional information pops up on your screen! (Summer body — I’m on my way!)

Or, meeting a friend in a public space while doing some furniture shopping. Check out a private location-sharing functionality our sister company Auki Labs made:

The Centaur is real.

From an education point of view, imagine children learning about science and viewing the solar system in AR! (Excuse the pun, but the possibilities are out of this world!)

We’d love for you to weigh in on which industry you think might benefit the most from AR. Leave us a comment on Twitter here, or LinkedIn here.

Finally, in light of Data Privacy Day on the 28th of Jan, read more about what Damir and Nils think about why “VR Tracking Facial Expressions May Be the Next Privacy Nightmare”.

That’s all for this week! We hope you enjoyed reading about what’s happening in our world, and we can’t wait to see you play #Floorcraft: Arena, so don’t forget to tag us on social in your gameplay videos. Now start your engines!
