In this update we’re sharing all the juice from our latest creative hackathon!

Mayhem Mode

Michal and the team are executing something we have eagerly wanted to do for a long time: creating a single-player mode that grabs players’ attention and keeps them coming back for more. They drew inspiration from games like Brotato, Crimsonland, and Vampire Survivors to incorporate the best elements into Floorcraft Blasters’ gameplay.

Their goal? Fast-paced fun, increasing difficulty, and a sense of progress and reward. While there’s still work to be done, the foundation has been laid, and we are eager for you to try it as soon as its stable!

Behold! Our glorious design document!

An Inco Treasure Hunt

Andy is working on a Treasure Hunt idea, a game system that lets anyone hide treasures around the room using domain QR codes, and the have friends embark on an adventure to find them. The Inco will assist anyone in completing the quest. The treasures can be hidden within various 3D models, adding an extra element of curiosity…

In our Auki Store in Hong Kong, we are trying out how it would work in a retail store. The system works by leaving clever clues, just like in the video below:

and footprints could be used to give an even more immersive experience!

Would you like to go on a treasure hunt in shared AR? Let us know what you think!

Inco Language

Robin is using AI to design a communication system for Incos. The idea is to use an AI language model to generate short phrases with a limited vocabulary, such as “play,” “ball,” “eat,” and “snack.” Instead of displaying the words directly, they are translated into a symbol language and presented in speech bubbles.

Over time, players can learn the meanings of different symbols, just like understanding your cat’s meows. Players can interact with Inco by speaking, typing, or using code-generated sentences. The language AI responds with a few words, which are then converted into symbols and displayed in speech bubbles. Each symbol also corresponds to a unique sound. AI is helping us iterate so much faster, and the future of mixed reality is literally in our hands!

Floorcraft: Blasters

Batu is currently working on new obstacles with a wasteland/scavenger art direction, along with creating an entire landscape for an upcoming Floorcraft: Blasters cutscene. These rock pieces will serve as obstacles in the game and contribute to the overall cutscene landscape. It’s worth mentioning that all the rock assets are procedurally generated, adding a touch of uniqueness to each session.

Mysterious Sounds

Last week, Dusko focused on creating additional sound components for Blasters, but! Dusko has also been working on a top-secret project that involved researching South American native instruments. The combination of cinematic music, sounds from the jungle, and melodies played on four distinct types of flutes has successfully created something completely different. Any guesses what this mysterious project is?

A sneak peek of the mysterious project

That’s all for this week, folks! Don’t forget to download Floorcraft: Blasters and stay tuned for more updates, we’ll be revealing the secret project very soon!
